Moldova is an Eastern European Country that is the former Soviet Republic. It is regarded as the country of Vineyards, forests and hills. Moldova is a landlocked state located between Romania and Ukraine and lies at an intersection of commercial and tourist routes. In 1995, it became the first post-Soviet state admitted to the Council of Europe.

Moldova gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1992 and is a member if the UN. Since then, the country has been focusing on development and now has much to offer in terms of medical education.  Moldova is a friendly place due to it being a favored destination for students and tourists. It is known for its remarkable beauty and splendor and is also well known for its rich cultural heritage of old educational institutions like the oldest university in Moldova was founded in Heidelberg in 1386. Chisinau is the capital of Moldova and has an excellent infrastructure of transport, business and educational facilities. While the cost of living standards are relatively high, students will find it lower than most European countries.
